1 Kings 4:22

And Solomon’s provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,

The verse belongs to the account of Solomon's reign that presents him as great as well as wise, administering through high officers placed throughout the country, ruling over a numerous and contented people, and gaining fame that spread into neighboring lands. That account is one of extraordinary prosperity and grandeur. The wider account shows that God gave Solomon immense wisdom, fame, and earthly resources, yet such prosperity could not produce lasting good in human nature.

The verse records the large daily provision for Solomon's household of thirty measures of fine flour and sixty measures of meal. Taken together with the list of provisions in the next verse, the daily supply shows that under the influence of his wives' heathen customs his table came to include more meat and less fruit and grain.

The verse serves as evidence that Solomon's temple was built on a larger and grander scale than the tabernacle. Even in its enlarged grandeur it kept the distinguishing feature of two holy places. That correspondence supports that the heavenly sanctuary also has two holy places.
