1 Kings 5:16
Beside the chief of Solomon’s officers which were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled over the people that wrought in the work. Beside the chief of Solomon’s officers which were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled over the people that wrought in the work.
Beside the chief officers over the work there were three thousand and three hundred who ruled over the people that wrought in the labor. They were distinct from seventy thousand burden-bearers and eighty thousand hewers in the mountains, and from a levy of thirty thousand men sent to Lebanon ten thousand a month by courses under Adoniram. The whole force was gathered to cut and prepare cedar and fir and great costly hewed stones to lay the foundation of the house. The work was carried forward through organized skilled labor, with appointed overseers directing the workers and master workmen supervising different parts of the building.
The workers obeyed their directors in harmony, without strikes or rebellion or dissatisfaction. The fitting of the stones came from careful and accurate workmanship, not from a special miracle. Going to other nations for workmen to build the temple was a departure from right ways, an idolatrous connection with the world that greatly displeased God, though God had promised to bless Solomon if he followed right ways. Solomon was blessed while he kept separate from the world, and God's people will be blessed while they remain a distinct people.
