1 Kings 6:38

And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.

The house was finished throughout all its parts according to its design in Bul, which is the eighth month, in the eleventh year, after seven years in building. Its completion was in accordance with God's directions, as a major work carried out under Solomon's wise direction and leadership. The finished building was magnificent in richness, beauty, and costly design, and its excellence spread Solomon's fame among the nations.

It was the permanent sanctuary that replaced the movable tabernacle after the Hebrews settled in Canaan. It was larger than the tabernacle but kept its proportions and furnishings. It remained the sanctuary, except while it lay in ruins in Daniel's time, until the Romans destroyed it in A.D. 70.
