1 Kings 6:5
And against the wall of the house he built chambers round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle: and he made chambers round about: And against the wall of the house he built chambers round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle: and he made chambers round about:
The chambers were built round about against the walls of the house, both of the temple and of the oracle, meaning the walls around the Most Holy Place. They were part of the temple's construction, which was carried out in faithful obedience to God's directions. Solomon built with the wisdom and understanding heart God gave him, which he had chosen above earthly riches, honor, or long life.
For many years he lived in devotion to God, uprightness, firm principle, and strict obedience, directing every important enterprise and managing the business of the kingdom with wisdom. The resulting temple was a building of exceptional richness, beauty, and costly design, the most magnificent building the world ever saw, which could not be excelled. It was a permanent sanctuary built on a larger scale than the wilderness tabernacle, but with the same proportions and furnishings.
His faithful work spread his fame among all nations for superior knowledge, wisdom, excellence of character, and greatness of power, so that many came from all parts of the world to behold his power and to be instructed how to conduct difficult matters. That temple served as the sanctuary until its destruction by the Romans in A.D. 70, except while it lay in ruins in Daniel's time.
