1 Kings 7:41

The two pillars, and the two bowls of the chapiters that were on the top of the two pillars; and the two networks, to cover the two bowls of the chapiters which were upon the top of the pillars;

The verse stands in the account of Solomon's reign, which forms the first major section of 1 Kings in chapters 1-11 describing the period of the undivided kingdom, paralleled in 2 Chronicles 1-9. It gives part of the building and furniture of the temple, namely the two pillars and the two bowl-shaped capitals that were on the top of the pillars, with the two decorative networks to cover the bowls of the capitals. The construction and its sacred vessels are part of the evidence for the character of that house.

The sanctuary Solomon built was a permanent and enlarged version of the tabernacle, with its vessels increased in size and number. It was built on the same plan as the tabernacle, with two holy places and sacred vessels of the same kind, and served as a pattern of the heavenly temple. The building and furniture of the temple is to be especially noted together with the dedication prayer and sacrifices and the divine answer to Solomon's prayer. The wider passage of 1 Kings 7:13-51 shows that God gave the builders of the temple special wisdom for their work.
