1 Kings 7:43

And the ten bases, and ten lavers on the bases;

1 Kings 7:43 belongs to the history of the undivided kingdom under Solomon's reign, concerning the building and furniture of the temple. It stands in 1 Kings 1 to 11, with its parallel in 2 Chronicles 1 to 9, coming in chronological order with that history. It stands in the latter part of 1 Kings 7, which enters into details concerning the furnishings and vessels of the temple. That chapter first describes Solomon's own house, which he built after he had finished the house of Jehovah, in contrast to many who make self first.

The verse records ten bases and ten lavers set on the bases, as part of the sacred vessels and furnishings made for Solomon's temple. Those sacred vessels were increased in size and number compared with those of the tabernacle. The temple itself was a larger, permanent building constructed on the same two-room plan as the tabernacle, with sacred vessels of the same kinds supporting the same ministry.

By its plan and furnishings, the temple is a pattern of the heavenly temple, which also has two holy places. The construction to which the verse belongs is an example of God giving special wisdom to its builders.
