1 Kings 7:47

And Solomon left all the vessels unweighed, because they were exceeding many: neither was the weight of the brass found out.

1 Kings 7:47 falls within the account of Solomon's reign, which is part of the period when the kingdom was united under Solomon. It belongs to the history of the undivided kingdom under Solomon told in 1 Kings 1 to 11 and paralleled in 2 Chronicles 1 to 9, coming in chronological order. It records part of the building and furniture of the temple, to be noted especially along with the dedication prayer and sacrifices and the divine answer to Solomon's prayer.

It is part of the description of Solomon's temple and the sacred vessels made for it. The temple had two holy places and vessels of the same kind as those used in the tabernacle. The sanctuary vessels of the temple were increased in size and number compared with those of the tabernacle. They served the same ministry as those of the tabernacle.

Together with its plan and furnishings, the temple was a pattern of the heavenly temple. The builders of the temple did their work by special wisdom given by God, proving that the power of invention is God-given.
