1 Kings 7:7
Then he made a porch for the throne where he might judge, even the porch of judgment: and it was covered with cedar from one side of the floor to the other. Then he made a porch for the throne where he might judge, even the porch of judgment: and it was covered with cedar from one side of the floor to the other.
1 Kings 7 describes part of the construction of Solomon's temple. That temple was the permanent and enlarged successor to the tabernacle. Its vessels were increased in size and number. It was built with two distinct holy places on the same plan as the tabernacle and for the same sacred ministry with the same kinds of vessels. Its two-part arrangement was a pattern of the heavenly temple, which likewise has two holy places.
1 Kings 7:7 belongs to the description of Solomon's own house rather than to the temple proper. It describes the porch for the throne where he would sit to judge. That porch was covered with cedar from one side of the floor to the other. The account of Solomon's great building works in which the verse stands shows that his own house and Jerusalem required immense wealth and costly construction.
Solomon built his own house after he had finished the house of Jehovah. In this he put God before self. This stands in contrast to the many who put self first and make self first.
