1 Kings 8:20
And the LORD hath performed his word that he spake, and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel. And the LORD hath performed his word that he spake, and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
The Lord performed His word and promise in the building of the house by Solomon. That fulfillment included placing Solomon in the room of David his father on the throne of Israel and enabling him to build. The house was built for the name and honor of the Lord God of Israel and was called by God's name. At its dedication that purpose was made known before Israel, and the house was to help people of other nations hear of God's greatness, pray toward the house, and come to know and fear Him.
Because its plan, provision, and purpose were divinely given, its honor belonged to God and not to Solomon, so taking praise for it made it known as Solomon's rather than as the temple of Jehovah. Though meant to direct honor to God, the house came through the builder's later apostasy to be known by a human name as "Solomon's temple," diverting attention toward man.
