1 Kings 8:4
And they brought up the ark of the LORD, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, even those did the priests and the Levites bring up. And they brought up the ark of the LORD, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, even those did the priests and the Levites bring up.
After Solomon finished building the temple, the ark of the covenant was brought up out of the city of David to the temple. For the transfer he assembled the elders of Israel and the leading, most influential men, with Israel and others gathered to witness the dedication. The priests and the Levites brought up the ark of the Lord together with the tabernacle of the congregation and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle. The assembled leaders consecrated themselves to God and accompanied the priests who bore the ark with great solemnity and reverence.
The transfer was made with great ceremony, singing and music, with King Solomon and all the congregation assembled before the ark sacrificing sheep and oxen that could not be told nor numbered for multitude, following the example of his father David by sacrificing every six paces. The priests placed the ark in the Most Holy Place beneath the cherubim. The dedication did not mean that God was confined to the temple, for He would meet the people by His Spirit when they gathered there for worship.
