Peter Teaching Believers to Be HumbleBible World

1 Peter 5:7

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

God cares personally and tenderly for each person, knowing every need, trial and circumstance great and small and sympathizing with all suffering.
Casting care upon him means bringing every worry, need, perplexity and burden to him in prayer with full trust, leaving it with him instead of carrying it alone or trusting in human help.
The call belongs with humbling oneself under his mighty hand and waiting for him to exalt in due time, which sustains believers through trial, suffering and the assaults of the adversary.
Laying burdens on him in this way brings rest of soul, peace, calmness, courage and hope, with strength to endure, wisdom for duty, and deliverance in difficulty.
The heaviest burden to be cast is unconfessed sin and guilt, which crushes if borne alone but finds forgiveness and rest when laid on Christ the great Burden-bearer who gave his life to save.

Context in Peter's Letter

Casting all care on God because He cares belongs with humbling oneself under His mighty hand and waiting for Him to exalt in due time, and that humble trust sustains believers through trial, suffering and affliction. It means submission and lowliness toward others, exalting the message and not self, walking humbly with God day by day, and working under the guidance of the Great Shepherd as faithful caretakers. It means never teaching others to look to any man for wisdom, never taking God's place, never putting trust in man or making flesh an arm of strength, but making the Lord the trust, looking to Him for guidance and wisdom, following His counsel when received, and then He will exalt in due time.

The same casting of care belongs with being sober and vigilant and resisting the devil steadfast in the faith. The reason is that the adversary the devil as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour, present and watching, sowing his seeds in human minds, controlling the human intellect, and catching every soul found off guard. He watches amusements and the playground, so the call to sobriety forbids indulgence in football and objectionable games that ought to make every Christian blush with mortification, and calls instead to deny self, remain watchful, persevere, and work and teach in Christ's lines rather than in self-uplifting and weak ability. That vigilance is joined to confidence that God will exalt the humble in due time and will sustain and strengthen His people through suffering.

The promise was given for severe trials and coming persecution, to turn minds from discouragement toward hope in Christ. It was given as warning to churches threatened with division and ruin by apostates who have gone out from them and seek to seduce souls. In that danger believers are to humble themselves under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt them in due time, casting all care upon Him because He cares for them, being sober and vigilant, resisting steadfast in the faith while knowing the same afflictions are suffered by brethren in the world. The assurance is that after suffering awhile the God of all grace who has called to eternal glory by Christ Jesus will make perfect, stablish, strengthen and settle, to whom be glory and dominion forever and ever.

Casting care on God belongs with shepherding God's flock humbly and willingly, as ensamples to the flock, without acting harshly or proudly, without lording over God's heritage, and without seeking personal gain. Those in charge in the church, even conference presidents, are not infallible or to be a controlling power over mind and judgment, for one man's mind and judgment is not to be a controlling power and the office does not give infallibility. Presidents remain human and fallible, liable to show sharp traits of character that are more dangerous because responsibility is greater, needing counsel from brethren, and they must not hinder workers or decide for them their course of action and the spiritual food for the people, nor condemn or criticize on hearsay without seeing or speaking with the one thought to be in error, and must be careful how they censure ministers who in trying circumstances and emergencies exercised the best judgment they had. Ministers and workers are under Christ as Captain and must look to Him, be guided by Him, and use the wisdom God gave them to devise and plan, acting on their own judgment under His moving influence when special work is assigned them, trusting Him to lead and guide and bless them and to give them light about what the people need, instead of depending on a human leader to be mind and judgment for them. This is wise counsel to church and conference officers to humble themselves under the mighty hand of God and cast all care upon Him because He cares for them, trusting Him to exalt them in due time, putting aside self-reliance and living humbly and considerately toward others.

The same humility includes refusing to rely on one's own works or righteousness and confessing and forsaking sin rather than protecting pride or self-esteem. God's care is the ground for trusting Him while the atoning Sacrifice pleads on one's behalf, and He will exalt the humble in due time. Faith in Jesus Christ and repentance from sin are possible while Christ serves as officiating priest in the heavenly sanctuary, because every provision has been made for every moral and spiritual need, grounded in the fact that God is love and cares, and truth in Jesus Christ reveals that God cares for people. The promise is part of the Word the Lord Jesus has given to be presented by laborers together with God to wrench men and women from Satan's grasp so none perish but come to the knowledge of the truth and obtain heaven on its given terms, made possible because Christ clothed His divinity with humanity and gave His precious life that believers might be partakers of the divine nature and overcome the temptations in the world through lust. Those who thus humble themselves before God are especially remembered by Him, associated with those who sigh and cry over the evils around them and are marked for protection, and humble dependence brings His favor and blessing.

Nature of Divine Care

The verse means that God and Christ care personally and tenderly for each individual, carrying each one on the heart with fatherly, compassionate love that is more dependable than any human care. He knows each person's needs, trials, circumstances and suffering, and sympathizes with them, noticing every sorrow and joy whatever their station in life. Christ speaks the invitation to every human being who is weary and heavy laden, to cast all care and anxiety upon Him, great or small, because He alone can remove the burdens that weigh them down and bring relief instead of being crushed by worry. Besides the heaviest burden of sin He also bears the burden of care and sorrow, including guilt and remorse no human can bear alone, taking the load from weary shoulders and giving rest. This will be fully recognized when people see Him face to face, how much He has borne and would gladly have borne for them.

His care covers everything great and small, temporal and spiritual, including daily needs, business cares, disappointments, joys, fears, sorrows, perplexities, and the purposes and plans for each day. Nothing that affects His children is too small for Him to notice, from small worries to great troubles, and He is tender toward their sorrows and concerns as a sympathizing friend who can be trusted with everything in the heart. His care extends from unnumbered worlds which He sustains to the sparrow and the flowers, marking every tear and encircling every household and individual without being perplexed or overpowered. The assurance that God hears these petitions belongs to believers as much as to the first disciples, so daily needs and every care may be entrusted to Him. Even when business prospects darken and loss threatens, cares are to be placed upon God rather than allowed to discourage, remaining calm and cheerful while praying for wisdom, doing what can be done to manage wisely, and then accepting the outcome cheerfully.

His care is shown in Christ as the great Burden-bearer, Counselor, Advocate, Healer and Elder Brother at the throne, who gave His life and blood to save, cleanse sin and make forgiveness possible. Truth in Christ reveals that God is love and cares, and while Christ serves as officiating priest in the heavenly sanctuary every provision has been made for every moral and spiritual need, making faith and repentance possible. Jesus alone is able to bear the sins of men, so no worker is to try to be a sin-bearer, but is to lean the whole weight upon Jesus with continual firm reliance and unwavering trust. He understands weakness and temptation by experience, lives to intercede, bears with loving concern what people cannot remove themselves, and sets healing virtue before every soul instead of condemnation and discouragement, producing freedom, hope, faith and cheerfulness.

His care does not mean dangers are absent but that He is a dependable refuge, near in trouble, present to help in every need, and tender in affliction and uncertainty. Trusting Him brings rest and peace instead of fretful, draining worry that does not help bear trials, calling for patient waiting for His salvation rather than restlessness or despondency. Even in affliction and confusing circumstances the whole trust is to be placed in Him, for He provides what serves the highest good and trials test faith and refine those who remain faithful. When He keeps the future hidden it is because He loves and knows that seeing it could lead to fear or presumption and frustrate the good He intends, so hardship should not be met with distrust or with seeking human counsel to uncover what He has concealed. In distress such as a critical operation He is a sure refuge who can bring safely through, near to offer consolation in sorrow and comfort through trust in His promises and Christ's sustaining grace, so that Satan's temptations need not separate from Christ's love, and turning to Him is better than relying on people as weak as oneself.

Meaning of Casting Care

Casting all care means bringing every worry, need, perplexity, burden, care, sorrow and grief to God in prayer because He cares for those who trust Him. It is to be done with unlimited confidence, presenting His pledged promises and claiming them by faith, continuing to ask for spiritual blessings and waiting patiently for Him to bring to pass exceeding abundantly above all that is asked or thought. It belongs with watching unto prayer, obeying, and bringing a self-seeking, domineering spirit under Christ's control, and fleeing to Him as the source of strength brings help and blessing amid trials and temptations. Fretting or scolding is set aside for placing all worries in God's hands in prayer and trust.

It means full, unquestioning trust in Jesus rather than doubt, with confidence that He responds to that trust and is glorified by it. That trust brings courage, and the Lord will not let the trusting person faint and fall. It does not depend on feeling joy or consolation, but perseveres in faith until victory comes through Jesus, refusing to cling to discouragement, doubt, grief or darkness and refusing to rely on one's own heart. Trying to carry burdens alone is too difficult; faith and trust let Christ carry them, and feelings of unrest, homesickness and loneliness can teach finding in God the friendship, love and comfort that satisfy the heart and trusting His faithful promises.

It means leaving burdens with Him instead of carrying them alone or taking them up again, for taking them up again instead of leaving them with the Saviour shows the difficulty of continuing to rely on Him and fails to rest the burden with Him. What can be done is to be done in His strength without trying to do the impossible, without taking unassigned burdens or overtaxing weak strength, and without acting as though everything depended on self. God's help does not replace personal effort; prayer for wisdom, wise management of affairs, and doing one's part while relying on Him are required, and then the outcome is to be accepted cheerfully with calmness, serenity, peace, hope and courage, free from fretfulness, unhappiness and discouragement. This trust enables more effective service and keeps Him close to carry every load and help with what cannot be set right.

It means trusting God and Him alone rather than man, never teaching others to look to any man for wisdom, never taking God's place, never putting trust in man or making flesh an arm of strength, but making the Lord the trust. Burdens and cares are to be carried directly to the Lord at the footstool of Christ and not to any human being, not depending on human sympathy, wisdom or counsel for duty, since human help is as a broken reed and wrong advice leads to binding grievous burdens and terrible failure. It means humbling self under His mighty hand in submission and lowliness toward others, exalting the message and not self for those called to carry it, walking humbly with God day by day under the guidance of the Great Shepherd as faithful caretakers. It means not planning or devising for self but letting the Lord will and plan and guide, looking to Him for guidance and wisdom, following His counsel and directions when received for where to be and what work and duty require, trusting Him to order the way, make a way of escape, and bless obedience, and then God will exalt in due time and give precious victories. No worker is to be made answerable to fellow laborers for his duty or become conscience for another; believers may counsel and pray together and seek instruction from the source of all wisdom, but to seek first and treat as most important the counsel of human minds dishonors God, and sending one minister to another to learn his duty brings evils finite man cannot foresee.

It means humbling self, dying to self, hiding life in Christ in meekness and lowliness of heart, and taking hold of God by faith with prayer, work, belief and trust instead of defending self. The heaviest burden that can be borne is unconfessed wrongdoing and injustice to others, so casting care includes earnest thorough work for repentance, confessing faults to God and to one another, making wrong right from the very first departure without trying to protect dignity or usefulness, praying for one another to be healed, and drawing nigh to God to never separate from Him again. In its setting humility before God includes refusing to rely on one's own works or righteousness and confessing and forsaking sin rather than protecting pride or self-esteem, accepting the humility confession requires and relying on His mercy while the atoning Sacrifice pleads on one's behalf. The weary, burdened soul seeking the Lord with repentance, humiliation and earnest prayer and casting the burden of sin upon the great Burden-bearer finds rest in Him and receives evidence that God accepts the humiliation and earnest repentance and for Christ's sake forgives sins, bringing safety, healing and standing clear before God, while carrying the load and delaying confession is a dangerous compromise. He will then be strength, shield and stronghold in trouble, and the humble who so depend on Him receive His favor and blessing and will be exalted in due time.

It is done by keeping the mind fixed on Christ through every trial in daily faith, consecration and a living relationship with God as weak and dependent ones He is ready to help. It is done by beginning at once to study to realize the value of the cross of Christ and learning to bear that cross, by being Bible students studying the will of God most earnestly, reading the Bible carefully and prayerfully to become familiar with it, keeping the fear of God before them, and sowing seeds of truth at home, in the workshop, in the market and in the meeting-house. It is done by laying perplexities and burdens at Jesus' feet daily, which brings rest, peace and happiness amid the path of obedience and duty and enables contentment and joy therein. It is done by spending more time in prayer, not letting frivolous things divert, walking before God in humility lest the enemy overcome, trusting Him with confidence and waiting patiently for Him to act, and not trying to carry evangelistic work alone but combining personal talents with the talents of others who supply what is lacking.

Blessings of Trusting Care

Laying every care, burden, perplexity and anxiety upon the Lord brings rest of soul and the peace of Christ into the heart, with calmness, cheerfulness, comfort, consolation, courage and hope in place of fretful, draining worry that only crushes and does nothing to help bear trials. Trusting Him to carry each load great and small gives relief instead of being consumed by anxiety, and resting in Him as a mighty helper means strength to endure, an opened way through difficulty, and a rest made more blessed as burdens grow heavier when weakness and helplessness are recognized. This calm and cheerfulness holds even when business prospects darken and loss threatens, calling for prayer for wisdom and for doing what can be done to manage wisely, then accepting the outcome cheerfully, since His help does not replace personal effort. His care does not mean dangers are absent but that He is a dependable and sure refuge in trouble.

Such confidence carries forward humble, faithful work for the Lord even when unappreciated, with assurance of reward, counsel and everlasting support so that the weight of responsibility need not bring worry or discouragement. He is ready to give strength to bear trials and resist temptation, ready to help in every need with daily grace and power for duty, trial and temptation, and His wisdom and aid are to be relied on rather than weak human strength or anxious self-reliance. He who marks even the fall of a sparrow orders the steps of the believer, sustains him in integrity and faithful good works, and leads to deliverance, victory, answered prayer, provision, and exaltation in due time with blessings deepened and widened.

To cast care upon Him is a high privilege of access to the mercy-seat, giving reason for gratitude and rejoicing as His children. It should fill the heart with thanksgiving and praise joined to appreciation of the great plan of redemption, the blessed hope of the soon appearing of Jesus Christ, names in the Lamb's book of life, and the robe of Christ's righteousness. Those who learn in His school find peace and rest in the Lord, count every favor too good for them and themselves happy and undeserving of all the good received, showing that rest in their faces, while humbling self under His mighty hand, being clothed with humility, taking up every duty however lowly, and cooperating with Christ ends complaint and murmuring at hardships and turns them into songs of thanksgiving that bring showers of blessing.

Faith in the Burden-Bearer's personal and attentive interest in each soul gives hope to the sick in mind and body, for nothing affecting His children is too small for Him to notice and He is tender toward their sorrows and concerns. The sore, discouraged heart needs gentle treatment and tender sympathy to direct it to Him, and trusting that He is interested brings healing to mind and body. He knows each soul's needs, trials and circumstances, sympathizes with suffering, and is ready to free, comfort and sustain those weighed down by difficulties who place their perplexities, troubles, weakness, sorrow and pain in His care and leave them with Him, freeing them to receive His love and share comfort and strength with others. In distress such as the ordeal of a critical operation He is a sure refuge who can bring safely through, and laying cares on Jesus the great Burden-Bearer instead of taxing weak strength brings good courage, for He lives to intercede, hears prayer for the souls He bought with His own blood, and guides continually toward improved health.

Applications to Daily Life

Ministers and gospel workers are to place ministry cares on Jesus rather than feeling the whole burden rests on them, trusting him to keep their souls, carry every load great and small, give according to faith, provide counsel and lasting support, and sustain them with angels beside them in hard places. This confidence supports carrying forward the work for the Lord even when not appreciated, with assurance that God will reward, and it keeps workers from being confused or distressed by failures and lack of godliness around them. They are to bring every care to the Redeemer in prayer rather than worry, keep praying, work faithfully, deny self, and after doing their best wait with patience, hope, cheerfulness and joy, relying on his unfailing promises to hear and provide what is needed for advancement of the work.

Physicians who trust God can point those with afflicted minds and hearts to Christ the great Burden-bearer and teach them to entrust perplexities and troubles to him, since divine grace enables this help. Faith in the Burden-bearer's personal care gives hope and healing to the sick in mind and body, directing the sore and discouraged heart to gentle treatment and tender sympathy that restores mind and body through trust that he is interested in them.

Teachers and students are to place every care in God's hands with humility and dependence on Christ rather than self-reliance, working and teaching in Christ's lines instead of in self-uplifting and weak human ability, so divine power cooperates with God-given human ability. Humble submission under God's mighty hand prepares for being exalted in due time and for sobriety and vigilance against the devil as a roaring lion seeking to devour, which forbids football and objectionable games that cause shame on reflection. Such amusements copied from other schools follow Gentile ways instead of Christ's example, for the devil is present on the playground and in every school exercise watching amusements to catch every soul off guard, sow seeds in minds, and control intellect, and students with minds deeply excited by games are unfit to receive instruction, counsel, and reproof essential for this life and the future immortal life.

Parents when depressed and discouraged must not go to human beings for solace and sympathy but must take all cares and perplexities to Jesus, since human help is as a broken reed and by wrong advice from human beings Satan leads men and women to bind upon themselves burdens grievous to be borne. Parents who listen to advice of those not on Christ's side will make terrible failure of parental work and fall easy prey to temptation, whereas Jesus understands every phase of character and to those who seek his counsel gives wisdom from above. A mother weighed down by raising children may take her burden to Christ in prayer and lay it at his feet, and he cares for her and gives strength, cheerfulness, hope, courage, and wisdom in trying hours, so trusting him fully makes burdens easier and brings rest of soul. This same care reaches worry over whether an opportunity will be possible, calling for prayer, patience, submission, and trust that God will direct the way, and it assures young people that God knows their needs, understands temptations, sees potential, and is ready to help them reach a high standard when they recognize need and seek help.

The verse applies to anxiety and burden over a new child, with assurance not to worry and lose trust, because God cares and Christ's compassionate love holds the mother. It applies to a troubled marital situation to be left with the Lord, where entrusting distress and anxiety to God who cares brings relief and rest of mind and frees for duty rather than dwelling on disappointment or self-pity.

Even when business prospects darken and loss threatens, cares are to be placed upon God rather than allowed to discourage, remaining calm and cheerful, praying for wisdom, doing what can be done to manage affairs wisely, and then accepting the outcome cheerfully, since God's help does not replace own effort. Worldly concerns must not separate from him, but in life's brevity and uncertainty trusting the Lord goes with consecrating all one has and is to his service.

For each day all cares, purposes, and plans are to be placed in Christ's hands because he cares, and dependence on him for life removes anxiety about temporal needs and the future which remains in his keeping, for both daily needs and redemption of the soul. After doing what can be done to care for health and live according to the laws of life, all care may be entrusted to God who cares and gives physical strength and ability to work. His loving patience with human weakness and readiness to forgive give reason to walk humbly and confidently, with gratitude for goodness in giving renewed activity and helpfulness after sickness and weakness, love for the Lord and his work and for souls, and good courage.

Believers need not weary themselves with busy anxieties and needless cares but should faithfully do each day the work providence assigns, trusting him to have care for them while Jesus deepens and widens blessings, yet still making personal effort to secure salvation at last. Applied to camp-meeting this means leaving home cares behind to come and find Jesus at his appointed meetings, coming prepared to work and bringing tithes and free-will offerings in gratitude as blessed.

When matters cannot be controlled, all is to be left with the heavenly Father, and even when work of giving the message requires traveling on the Sabbath, mind and heart can still be kept uplifted to God and hidden in Jesus, and trust brings his help.

In affliction a person can entrust the helpless soul to Jesus because he loves and continually cares, trusting rather than discouragement since Christ promised to overcome Satan's power, and casting care is an act of faith especially amid affliction and emergency that sustains and brings peace, courage, and hope. In distress God is a sure refuge who cares, is near, and offers comfort and help rather than reliance on people as weak as oneself, and in the ordeal of a critical operation this assurance strengthens with reliance that God can bring safely through. In sleepless conflict, grief after fatal accident, child's serious illness, and every emergency, the helpless soul and case are to be entrusted to the Lord who understands, comforts, sustains, hears prayer, helps through hardship, reveals himself, sets feet on solid ground, and gives light, grace, and power to overcome and help others.

Loneliness, homesickness, unrest, and feelings too heavy to carry alone teach finding lasting friendship, love, comfort, and satisfaction in God rather than trying to bear burdens alone, with faith and trust in his faithful promises letting Christ carry them.

Christ speaks to every human being inviting all weary and heavy laden to cast all care upon him, for he carries each person on his heart with personal concern and alone can remove burdens that weigh down. Besides care and sorrow he bears the burden of sin and guilt, the heaviest burden, which would crush if borne alone, taking the load from weary shoulders and giving rest, and its full weight will be recognized when seeing him face to face. Casting care means as the great Burden-bearer transferring the load of unconfessed wrongdoing and injustice, humbling self, making earnest thorough repentance, confessing faults to God and to one another, making wrong right from the very first departure without protecting dignity or usefulness, placing self in God's hands to let him work his will, praying for one another to be healed, and drawing nigh never to separate again, which brings safety, healing, and standing clear, while delay is dangerous compromise. The weary burdened soul seeking with repentance, humiliation, and earnest prayer and casting sin upon him finds rest and receives evidence of acceptance and forgiveness for Christ's sake, and guilt and remorse may be cast on Christ in trust of mercy.

Life's anxieties should drive to the Saviour for help and comfort by casting burdens on him rather than separating from him, for people of every class face cares, the poor through toil, deprivation, and fear of want and the rich through fear of loss and many worries, and Christ's constant care illustrated by flowers of the field is reason to trust. When burdens are not entrusted they separate from him, and dwelling on trials and repeating grievances magnifies them, turns attention to self-pity, and weakens faith and confidence.

The invitation to place every care on Christ rebukes distrust and unbelief, since without his help life's heavy burdens cannot be borne rightly, and it calls for the pure unselfish love and unquestioning faith Christ showed. Every grief, trial, temptation, weakness, and burden is to be taken to Jesus in prayer who shares sorrows, is refuge, and gives shelter and solace, and neglecting to bring them brings needless pain and forfeits peace.

All cares are to be taken to God as Burden-bearer instead of marking out one's own course, for left to self one makes poor work and shipwreck of faith, whereas continual trust gives safety, removes constant fear of future evil, and ends borrowed care because the Father cares and makes grace sufficient in every need. This trust forbids tarnishing character with avarice, penuriousness, selfishness, or false dealing for gain, since what brings profit as man sees it brings immense irreparable loss in heaven's reckoning where angels and Redeemer view the record and the Lord sees not as man sees. Taking management into one's own hands and depending on own wisdom for success justly brings anxiety and anticipation of danger and loss which will most certainly come.

God's servants should bring burdens to the compassionate Redeemer whose ear is always open and whose eye sees every sacrifice and sorrow, and neglect and injustice suffered will increase reward in the coming day. God invites all trials and perplexities and can be trusted not to betray confidence, helping even the weakest who trusts regardless of status, and those troubled by perplexity or demands are to preserve peace of mind by placing burdens on God the Burden-bearer and looking to him for guidance in duty and will.

The verse was applied to Brother Smith to rely on God for strength and help as he seeks to overcome, trusting every care because God cares. It assures that the Lord cares for Mary at every hour and surrounds her with his everlasting arm. It teaches Addie to lay all burdens upon Jesus whose love and care make him a sure refuge. Heavy concern for Brethren Hare and Hughes is to be placed on the Lord, and managers of the Colorado Sanitarium in special need appealed to God and received assurance of his care and approval of their work.

Committing keeping of the soul to God as faithful Creator means resting in his love without anxiety or doubt on evidence of his love, resting concerns wholly in his hands while seeking his will and submitting own will, with gratitude for goodness and trust as purchased by his blood in preparation for the home Christ prepares. When helpless souls are cast upon him he reveals himself, helps into light, places feet on solid ground, and being near at hand lays heavy burdens on the Saviour, bearing weight of helpless souls and perplexities as the risen living Christ to whom all is entrusted.

Personal troubles, troubled minds, cares, perplexities, and sorrows are to be brought to God and placed on Jesus who cares, holds each soul on his heart, and gives sure consolation, right counsel, and promised rest rather than bearing life's burdens alone. This includes complicated matters involving others and perplexities between soul and Jesus, without judging fellow workers, retaliating, or self-vindicating, but humbly doing what can be done, entrusting the helpless soul to Jesus who sustains those trusting his word so they need not walk alone, and waiting for him to work and open the way for the Spirit.

Every trouble, trial, pain, difficulty, and care for health, soul, and children belongs to the Lord and may be brought before him and left with the Saviour whose pity makes him ready to hear every complaint, so trials do not seem severe and work does not seem hard. Casting burdens brings strength to endure, opens way through difficulty, and gives rest, with recognition of weakness leading to strength in his strength and heavier burdens making rest more blessed. All care can be placed on Jesus who is able to bear all as counselor and everlasting support, so there is no need to worry or be discouraged by responsibilities, and trusting his love frees the heart from fretfulness and unhappiness while reflection on his watchful personal love uplifts the mind.
