1 Samuel 10:24
And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, God save the king. And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, God save the king.
The verse belongs to Israel's demand for a king, expressed as dissatisfaction with the judges but driven by discontent and pride, with the complaint about Samuel's sons providing a pretext for a change long wanted. The presentation took place at Mizpeh after Saul had been identified by lot and brought before the people. There Samuel publicly presented Saul as the man the Lord had chosen to be king, declared that there was none like him among the people, and the assembly responded with a joyful shout accepting him as king.
Samuel's declaration that none was like Saul pointed to his exceptional stature, which fitted the people's expectation of what a king should be. He was acknowledged as king by most of the people, though his selection was not accepted by all. Some opposed him because he came from Benjamin, the smallest tribe, feeling that Judah and Ephraim had been slighted. Envy and disappointed ambition also led some to withhold allegiance and the customary gifts.
