1 Samuel 10:3
Then shalt thou go on forward from thence, and thou shalt come to the plain of Tabor, and there shall meet thee three men going up to God to Beth-el, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine:
Samuel laid out for Saul a series of exact events that would meet him on his way home, as signs that his words would come true. One of those signs was to take place in the plain of Tabor, where three men going up to worship God at Bethel would meet him. One of them would be carrying three young goats for sacrifice, another three loaves of bread, and the third a leather bottle of wine for the sacrificial feast.
What had been foretold came to pass exactly as predicted. The men greeted Saul and gave him two loaves of bread. These foretold happenings on the homeward journey were given to strengthen Saul's faith and to assure him that God had chosen him for leadership and would qualify him by the Spirit.
