Philistine Raiders Split Into Three Companiesby emmanuel_higgins

1 Samuel 13:18

And another company turned the way to Beth-horon: and another company turned to the way of the border that looketh to the valley of Zeboim toward the wilderness.

The Philistine force was encamped at Michmash, which lay north of the deep valley that separated it from Saul's force at Geba. From that camp detachments were sent out in different directions to ravage the surrounding country. One company turned toward Beth-horon, and another turned toward the border overlooking the valley of Zeboim toward the wilderness. These spreading movements displayed the threat posed by the Philistine force at a time when Israel was weakened.
