1 Samuel 14:31

And they smote the Philistines that day from Michmash to Aijalon: and the people were very faint.

The pursuit that carried the slaughter of the Philistines from Michmash to Aijalon began with Jonathan and his armor-bearer striking out alone in a daring attack undertaken in faith. That small beginning opened the deliverance of Israel that day, as their stand drew God’s power into the battle against the Philistine host. The victory therefore belongs to divine aid rather than to numbers or military strength, since two men in dependence on God set in motion what the army then followed.
