1 Samuel 14:37
And Saul asked counsel of God, Shall I go down after the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into the hand of Israel? But he answered him not that day. And Saul asked counsel of God, Shall I go down after the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into the hand of Israel? But he answered him not that day.
Saul sought divine counsel about whether to go down in pursuit of the Philistines and whether they would be delivered into Israel's hand, but no answer was given to him that day. That silence was linked to his presumptuous offering, for which reason the honor of defeating the Philistines would not be granted to him. Jonathan was chosen instead as the one through whom deliverance for Israel would come.
