1 Samuel 15:34

Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul.

The verse stands at the close of the encounter in which Samuel brought Saul the command to carry out the long-delayed judgment upon Amalek. That judgment had been held back across the intervening generations since Amalek attacked Israel after the Exodus. It was now to be executed both because of that assault on Israel and because of Amalek's continued rebellion against God. The departure of Samuel for Ramah and of Saul for his home at Gibeah therefore marks the separation following the delivery of that commission.
