1 Samuel 17:52
And the men of Israel and of Judah arose, and shouted, and pursued the Philistines, until thou come to the valley, and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even unto Gath, and unto Ekron.
This verse belongs to the account of God saving Israel from the Philistines through David rather than through Saul. After the Philistines saw that their champion was dead they fled, and the men of Israel and of Judah arose with a shout and pursued them as far as the valley and to the gates of Ekron. The wounded of the Philistines fell down along the way toward Shaaraim, even unto Gath and unto Ekron.
David's victory over Goliath, to which this pursuit belongs, shows that he relied humbly on God rather than on human weapons or strength. His triumph was gained not by trusting in armor and might but by humble dependence upon divine power. That victory stands as an example that trusting God brings the truth to triumph.
