1 Samuel 19:10
And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin; but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night. And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin; but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.
Saul was angered by David's success and by the praise the people gave him, and jealousy and hatred toward David drove him to seek David's death. While David was playing music before him, Saul hurled his javelin at him, meaning to pin him to the wall. The Lord turned the weapon aside so that it missed David and smote into the wall instead.
Angels preserved David by letting him know Saul's deadly purpose in time, so that he slipped aside and sprang out of the way. Having thus slipped away out of Saul's presence, David fled and escaped that night.
