1 Samuel 19:7
And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan shewed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past. And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan shewed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.
Jonathan brought David back to Saul so that David stood in the king's presence as in former times, because Jonathan's soul was knit to David's soul and he loved David as his own soul. They had made a covenant to be united together as brethren. Jonathan expressed that covenant by stripping himself of his own robe and giving it to David, together with his garments, his sword, his bow, and his girdle. David kept that brotherly affection and the restoration to favor that flowed from it by remaining modest under important responsibilities and by winning the affection of the people as well as of the royal household.
