And Abiathar shewed David that Saul had slain the LORD’s priests.
Abiathar, one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, escaped after Saul's slaughter of the priests of the Lord and fled to David with the news that Saul had slain the Lord's priests. David answered that he knew that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that Doeg would surely tell Saul. He acknowledged that he had occasioned the death of all the persons of Abiathar's father's house. He told Abiathar to abide with him and fear not, for he that sought David's life sought Abiathar's life, but with David Abiathar would be in safeguard.
