1 Samuel 25:18
Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched corn, and an hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on asses. Abigail moved at once and on her own to take provisions out to David and his men. The supply she assembled and carried was the food that Nabal had refused to give. That swift, peace-seeking step helped turn David aside from taking revenge. In doing so she showed discretion and courage and a godly spirit. Her course shows that a woman may at times act independently and decisively as she knows is right before God.
