Abigail Bows with Her Face to the Groundby AbiQueenie7

1 Samuel 25:20

And it was so, as she rode on the ass, that she came down by the covert of the hill, and, behold, David and his men came down against her; and she met them.

David was at this time a fugitive being hunted by Saul, and Abiathar the priest was with him under his protection. Before this meeting Abigail had gathered provisions to answer Nabal's refusal. After Nabal's insulting refusal to help David, she promptly went to meet David and his men as they came down the hill, to avert his revenge and prevent harm.

Her respectful approach as she met them began her appeal for Nabal's life and revealed her discretion and godly character. She acted independently in doing this, showing that a wife may act decisively in the way she knows to be right before God. Even so she stands beside her husband as an equal, sharing life's responsibilities and giving him due respect as her lifelong companion.
