1 Samuel 25:35
So David received of her hand that which she had brought him, and said unto her, Go up in peace to thine house; see, I have hearkened to thy voice, and have accepted thy person. So David received of her hand that which she had brought him, and said unto her, Go up in peace to thine house; see, I have hearkened to thy voice, and have accepted thy person.
David spoke these words while hunted by Saul with no place of rest or security, after Abiathar son of Ahimelech escaped Saul's slaughter of the priests and David took him in for safeguard. He received what Abigail brought him and accepted her plea, agreeing to refrain from taking revenge on Nabal and his household. Her respectful manner and gifts softened his anger.
Her prompt, independent action and appeal turned him away from wrongdoing. He believed the Lord had sent her to keep him from committing a grave wrong. Having been so restrained, he sent her home in peace. He promised to remember her request even when he came to rule Israel.
