Nabal Drunk After His Feastby LionOfJudah

1 Samuel 25:36

And Abigail came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal’s heart was merry within him, for he was very drunken: wherefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light.

The episode falls within the story of David's flight from Saul, coming after Saul had slain the priests, when Abiathar escaped to David and received David's promise of protection. Nabal held an extravagant feast in his house like a king's feast and became very drunken. Because he was drunk, Abigail told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light, waiting to report what she had done to avert the danger brought on by his insult to David. Once the effects of his drunkenness had passed and he heard her account, he was filled with terror and never recovered from the shock.
