David and Abigail Joined in Marriageby LionOfJudah

1 Samuel 25:42

And Abigail hasted, and arose, and rode upon an ass, with five damsels of hers that went after her; and she went after the messengers of David, and became his wife.

Abigail acted promptly, arising and riding out with David's messengers, accompanied by five of her maidservants who went after her, and she went to become David's wife. In that marriage she became David's second wife. The event belongs to an account in which David refrains from personal retaliation, with Abigail's meeting with him helping to turn him away from taking vengeance on Nabal.
