1 Samuel 28:21

And the woman came unto Saul, and saw that he was sore troubled, and said unto him, Behold, thine handmaid hath obeyed thy voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have hearkened unto thy words which thou spakest unto me.

This verse belongs to Saul's visit to the woman of Endor on the eve of the Philistine attack, undertaken after the Lord had refused to answer him through appointed means. He came afraid and deeply troubled, feeling alone and defenseless because God had forsaken him. The Samuel who then appeared was not the prophet himself but Satan's counterfeit. Its message pressed Saul toward ruin rather than calling him to repentance.

After the encounter Saul collapsed, and the woman came to him and saw how deeply troubled he was. She reminded him that she had obeyed his request and had put her own life at risk by granting it. Fearing for her own safety, she urged the fallen king to eat, and he at last yielded to her plea for food.
