Achish Sends David Back from the Philistine Campby emmanuel_higgins

1 Samuel 29:10

Wherefore now rise up early in the morning with thy master’s servants that are come with thee: and as soon as ye be up early in the morning, and have light, depart.

Achish ordered David and his men, along with the other servants who had come with him, to rise early in the morning and depart as soon as they had light. The order sent David and his men away from the Philistine army before its battle with Israel. David had been in a grave dilemma, since fighting for the Philistines would have made him a traitor to his own people and to God, while leaving without permission would have appeared cowardly and treacherous toward Achish, who had protected him. The dismissal broke the snare in which David had become entangled and freed him from the danger of having to fight his own people Israel. Achish's words also made David feel shame and remorse over his deception.
