1 Samuel 30:5

And David’s two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.

While David and his men were away, the Amalekites raided Ziklag and carried off the wives and children as captives. When David and his men returned they found the women and children gone, taken by the Amalekites. Among those taken were David's own two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess and Abigail, Nabal's widow from Carmel. The loss plunged them into deep grief and formed part of David's distress at Ziklag, even as he encouraged himself in the Lord. On coming back to a desolate home, David asked the Lord whether he should pursue the raiders and whether victory would be given him, and received an affirmative answer. He set out at once with six hundred men, pressing on despite hunger, thirst, and exhaustion because time was short. The verse belongs to the account of David's battle with the Amalekites, whom he defeated before becoming king.
