1 Samuel 31:10

And they put his armour in the house of Ashtaroth: and they fastened his body to the wall of Beth-shan.

The verse belongs to the account of Saul's death and Israel's defeat by the Philistines. The battle took place near Shunem and Mount Gilboa, on the plain of Jezreel. There Saul faced the Philistine army in fear, feeling alone and defenseless because God had forsaken him. After the battle the Philistines put his armor in the house of Ashtaroth and fastened his body to the wall of Beth-shan. His armor and his head were displayed as trophies of victory among the Philistines and their idols. By placing the trophies before false gods, the victory was credited to idols, and Jehovah's name was dishonored.
