Jonathan Supporting Wounded Saul as Chariots Approachby CBPepper

1 Samuel 31:3

And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him; and he was sore wounded of the archers.

The fighting described took place in the Philistine battle on the plain of Jezreel near Mount Gilboa. There the battle pressed hard against Saul himself as the enemy closed in upon him. Archers struck him and left him severely wounded. Though his own forces were nearby, he felt alone and defenseless because God had forsaken him. That sense of abandonment filled him with fear as he looked upon the Philistine army.
