1 Samuel 4:20
And about the time of her death the women that stood by her said unto her, Fear not; for thou hast born a son. But she answered not, neither did she regard it. And about the time of her death the women that stood by her said unto her, Fear not; for thou hast born a son. But she answered not, neither did she regard it.
The scene is the deathbed of the wife of Phinehas in the hour of childbirth, coming upon the tidings that the ark of God had been captured and that both her husband and her father-in-law were dead. The shock of that threefold loss brought on her dying travail, so that the birth of her child and her own death occurred together. The women who stood by her as attendants sought to encourage her in that moment, telling her not to fear because she had borne a son.
She made no answer to their reassurance and paid it no regard, finding no comfort in the news of the birth. Her silence came because grief for the capture of the ark, joined with grief for the deaths in her house, outweighed all joy in the living child. With her dying breath she named the son Ichabod, to declare that the ark had been taken and that the glory had departed from Israel.
