1 Samuel 7:14
And the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even unto Gath; and the coasts thereof did Israel deliver out of the hands of the Philistines. And there was peace between Israel and the Amorites.
This verse belongs to the history of Samuel that begins with the Lord calling the child Samuel in the temple and commissioning him as prophet against the house of Eli. After the Philistines were subdued they surrendered Israel's captured strongholds and ceased hostilities for many years, so Israel enjoyed peace until the end of Samuel's sole administration. That victory shows that obedience to God leads to safety and happiness, while transgression leads to disaster and defeat.
