1 Samuel 7:8
And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto the LORD our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines. And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto the LORD our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines.
The verse belongs to the early account of Samuel, when he remained true to Heaven amid surrounding evil, while the sins of Eli and his sons shut out the presence of God's Holy Spirit. The Lord passed by Eli to commune with the child Samuel and to give him the message of condemnation to the house of Eli as his commission as a prophet of the Most High. The plea itself took place when Samuel began to judge Israel even in his youth.
Samuel had called the people together for fasting and prayer and deep humiliation before God and had borne solemn testimony from God, and the people then began to learn where their strength was. After twenty years in the power of the Philistines, Israel was greatly humbled and repentant of their sins. When the Philistines advanced and Israel was terrified, the people in trust toward God asked Samuel to keep crying and interceding to the Lord their God without ceasing to save them from the Philistines.
Samuel interceded for them, and God heard prayer in their behalf and was again merciful to them. When their enemies were aroused and made war with them, the Lord wrought for Israel in a miraculous manner. Victory turned to the side of Israel and they overcame their enemies.
