We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;
The chapter to which the verse belongs gives a lesson to individual church members and presents the apostles as laborers together with God. The verse expresses unceasing gratitude to God for all the believers and steady remembrance of them in prayer, revealing a spirit of thankful and caring intercession. That thanksgiving sprang from joyful news of the Thessalonians' growing faith, and with it there was recalled before God their work of faith and labor of love and patient hope in Jesus Christ. It was thanksgiving for converts because a small number had turned from idols to serve the living God, and their conversion supplied reason for thanksgiving and praise.
