1 Thessalonians 3:6
But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you: But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:
Silas and Timothy came from Macedonia to Paul while he was in Corinth. Timothy brought him good tidings of the Thessalonians' faith and charity, their love. Those who had accepted the gospel on the first visit of the messengers had remained faithful to God amid trial and hardship.
They had good remembrance of Paul always and greatly desired to see him, just as he desired to see them. Their report comforted him in all his affliction and distress, comforted him by their faith. Their standing fast in the Lord made him feel that he now truly lived.
The news stirred his tender concern and longing to see them in person. It moved him to thanks to God for all the joy with which he joyed for their sakes before God, and to praying night and day exceedingly that he might see their face and might perfect that which was lacking in their faith. The same tender solicitude seeks for believers now that the Lord will make them to increase and abound in love one toward another and toward all men, to the end that He may establish their hearts unblameable in holiness before God at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.
