Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
The God who calls His people is faithful to do what He has promised, to make them wholly holy and to keep them holy, preserving spirit, soul, and body blameless until the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. His grace alone has power to do this, and because He loves and cares for His people His promises are sure to those who are willing and obedient. Those who ask Him for wisdom in earnest, unwavering faith can trust Him to give liberally without reproach. If the answer is not immediate they are not to grow weary or waver, but to cling to the promise and keep praying in firm trust until steadfast faith receives what is promised. After confessing every known sin they may trust that they are accepted in the worthiness and blood of Jesus and that God hears their prayers, relying on His word rather than feeling or their own worthiness.
Faithful God Sanctifies Wholly
The fifth chapter of First Thessalonians is to be read and studied by one who must stop speaking of love to any woman besides his wife, reject base lust of the mind and corrupt thoughts, escape Satan's delusive representations, and place himself in a right position. The God who calls believers is faithful to do what He has promised: to sanctify them wholly and to preserve their spirit and soul and body blameless until the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. That promised work is their complete sanctification and their preservation blameless until the coming of Jesus Christ, which He who calls them will Himself bring about and accomplish.
What God calls His people to is making them holy and keeping them holy, and His grace is the only power that can do this. God is faithful to fulfill what He has promised, His promises are sure, and because He loves and cares for His people, those who are willing and obedient can trust His word to be fulfilled.
Steadfast Faith Receives Promise
Faithful is He who calls, and He will do what He has promised, being just as willing today to listen to the petitions of His people as He was at Pentecost. In answer to earnest, persevering prayer He gives the blessing of the Holy Spirit, with great wisdom and grace resting upon believers. Those who ask God for wisdom in earnest, unwavering faith may trust the faithful God who called them to fulfill His promise, for He gives liberally and does not reproach them. If the answer is not immediate, they are not to grow weary or abandon their purpose, but to wait without wavering, cling to the promise, and keep praying in firm trust. Steadfast faith receives what God has promised.
After confessing every known sin, believers may trust that Jesus accepts them and that God hears their prayers even when they feel no immediate comfort or answer. The delay tests whether their faith is living and abiding. They are to rely on God rather than feelings or their own worthiness, trusting in Jesus' worthiness and blood for acceptance and cleansing. The believer has certain evidence that he will receive the Lord's blessing and find rest, because the word comes from the lips of Christ and He will verify His word. The believer's part is to ask of God, to seek earnestly to be rich in grace, and to show entire faith in His word, with the promise that he shall receive, for humility and prayer are the secret of success and there is no need to give up to discouragement.
