1 Timothy 1:9
Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
The law was not made for the righteous man but is directed against those who break it. It places under its condemnation the lawless and disobedient, the ungodly and sinners, the unholy and profane, and this includes adulterers and liars and all who depart from sound teaching. The law therefore functions to identify and expose sin, rather than being abolished. Those who claim it is abolished while continuing to serve sin place themselves among its transgressors.
