1 Timothy 2:7

Where unto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

Paul was ordained and appointed as a preacher, that is a minister, and as an apostle and a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. That threefold calling establishes his office as proclaiming, sent authority, and instruction of the nations in faith and verity. His ordination was to testify in due time that Christ gave Himself a ransom for all.

That witness gives the pattern for ministry, so that every member of the church and every family is to be educated to study the Scriptures for themselves. No one is to dishonor God by looking to human agencies to stand between the soul and God. His charge to teach and preach the Word therefore calls for patient labor from the Bible that convinces people in error rather than condemning them.
