2 Chronicles 1:15

And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the vale for abundance.

In Jerusalem under Solomon silver and gold became as common as stones, while cedar wood grew as plentiful as sycamore trees in the lowland valley, marking an extraordinary abundance of both wealth and building material. This plenty came amid alliances and commercial dealings with heathen nations. It brought worldly renown, and with it honor and riches.

That material prosperity carried growing temptation and danger for the kingdom. The wealth and its temptations reached an ever-widening circle of people. Amid that wealth the fine gold of character was dimmed and marred.
