Solomon Prays at the Bronze Altar at Gibeonby emmanuel_higgins

2 Chronicles 1:6

And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.

Solomon went up to the bronze altar before the Lord at the tabernacle of the congregation at Gibeon. There upon that altar he offered a thousand burnt offerings to the Lord. Those sacrifices were no mere formal ceremony but the expression of the earnest desire of Solomon and the leaders for God's special help, in recognition that they could not meet their responsibilities by their own strength. He made the offering together with Israel's leaders as they consecrated themselves to God's service and sought His guidance for their responsibilities.
