2 Chronicles 10:15
So the king hearkened not unto the people: for the cause was of God, that the LORD might perform his word, which he spake by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat. So the king hearkened not unto the people: for the cause was of God, that the LORD might perform his word, which he spake by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
Rehoboam’s refusal to listen to the people’s request stood within God’s purpose, for the cause was of God in order that the Lord might carry out His word. That word was the one spoken by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat. Its fulfillment was the rending of the kingdom in keeping with the prophet’s prediction. Through Rehoboam’s decision the separation was brought about, with Judah and Benjamin remaining apart from the ten northern tribes.
