2 Chronicles 10:18
Then king Rehoboam sent Hadoram that was over the tribute; and the children of Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. But king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem. Then king Rehoboam sent Hadoram that was over the tribute; and the children of Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. But king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
This verse belongs to the account of Rehoboam's failed rule and the revolt that divided Israel. Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute and in charge of it, to conciliate the tribes that had withdrawn their allegiance. The people stoned Adoram to death, and their violence showed the strength of the revolt. Rehoboam then hurried into his chariot and fled to Jerusalem. After the rebellion, Judah and Benjamin remained under Rehoboam while the ten northern tribes formed a separate kingdom under Jeroboam.
