2 Chronicles 11:22

And Rehoboam made Abijah the son of Maachah the chief, to be ruler among his brethren: for he thought to make him king.

The verse stands within the account of the kings ruling in Judah at the point where Rehoboam followed Solomon on the throne. It belongs together with the breaking away of the ten tribes under the leadership of Jeroboam. It also belongs together with the movement of the Levites out of the northern kingdom into Judah. It further belongs together with the coming of Shishak king of Egypt against Judah and his stripping of the treasures of the temple.
