Shishak carried off the gold shields that had been kept in the temple at Jerusalem. In their place Rehoboam had shields of bronze made. He committed those bronze shields to the keeping of the palace guard. Whenever the king entered the house of the Lord, the guard fetched the shields to attend him and afterward brought them back again into the guard chamber.
