2 Chronicles 13:13

But Jeroboam caused an ambushment to come about behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambushment was behind them.

This verse belongs to the account of the war between Israel under Jeroboam and Judah under Abijah. In that war Jeroboam trapped Judah between his main force in front and an ambushment sent around behind them, so that Judah faced the Israelite army ahead while the ambush was behind. Despite being thus caught before and behind, Judah conquered Israel and won the battle and the war.

Judah's victory came after Abijah called on the Lord and Judah's priests sounded the trumpets, with the Lord helping Judah defeat Israel. The conflict of Judah under Abijah with Israel under Jeroboam parallels the Civil War, with Jeroboam's revolt and attempt to rule Judah corresponding to the secession of the Southern states and Jeff. Davis's effort to establish his government over the North.
