2 Chronicles 13:2

He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Michaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

Abijah's reign belongs to Judah after the division of the kingdom, and he reigned three years in Jerusalem during part of the reign of Jeroboam as king of Israel. Jeroboam was the leader of the revolt of the ten tribes who established a separate kingdom. The verse records war between Abijah and Jeroboam, that is, war between Judah and Israel.

That war culminated in a decisive battle in which Judah was outnumbered and attacked from both front and rear. When Abijah called on the Lord and the priests sounded the trumpets, the Lord helped Judah defeat Jeroboam's army. Judah won and conquered in this conflict with Israel.

The divided Israel in the chapter is likened to the North and the South in the American Civil War. Jeroboam's revolt is likened to the Southern secession, and his attempt to bring Judah under his rule is likened to Jefferson Davis's effort to establish his government over the North.
