2 Chronicles 15:12
And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul; And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;
The covenant to seek the Lord was made by Judah and Benjamin together with people from other tribes who had joined them. It belonged to Asa's reformation after the idols were removed and the Lord's altar was renewed, when the people gathered at Jerusalem and offered sacrifices. In it they solemnly bound themselves to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul, that is, with their whole desire.
Their wholehearted seeking was expressed in a public oath accompanied by rejoicing and joyful worship. Their seeking was answered: the Lord was found by them and gave them rest. For believers now, entering this covenant means continually elevating the standard, not for a day nor only while assembled in a meeting but as long as time shall last, being on the Lord's side and serving Him with full purpose of heart, putting away sin and exercising living faith, and those who do so receive the riches of heaven's blessing.
