2 Chronicles 17:5
Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance. Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.
The Lord established Jehoshaphat's kingdom and secured his rule firmly in his hand. This was because Jehoshaphat was loyal and upright, seeking God and living by His commandments in faithfulness.
He did not seek Baalim but sought the God of his father, walking in God's commandments instead of following Israel's practices. He removed idolatrous shrines and other corrupt practices, so Judah was gradually freed from dangers to its spiritual growth. He turned the people toward understanding God's requirements and reducing transgression. He tried to guard Judah from the sins of the northern kingdom under his contemporary Ahab and to persuade his subjects to stand firm against idol worship, even while many still offered incense in the high places.
In response all Judah brought him presents, and he had riches and honor in abundance as signs of divine favor following his faithfulness. His heart was lifted up in the ways of the Lord. That prosperity enabled him to wield great influence for truth and righteousness.
