2 Chronicles 18:15
And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou say nothing but the truth to me in the name of the LORD? And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou say nothing but the truth to me in the name of the LORD?
Ahab put Micaiah under solemn oath to tell him nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord. He pressed this demand for truthful speech even though he hated Micaiah because the prophet never spoke favorably toward him but only what was against his desires. In reply Micaiah foretold that Israel would be scattered like sheep without guidance and sent back to their homes, making clear that God’s favor was not with the proposed attack and that it should not go forward. Both kings disregarded that warning and went into battle, where Ahab was slain, so that Micaiah’s word was exactly fulfilled.
